Uni-Scholar

Overview
Every year, thousands of UK college students face one of the most consequential decisions of their early lives: university or apprenticeship? The information they need is scattered across dozens of websites, the comparison is difficult to make, and the consequences of a poorly informed decision can follow them for years. Uni-Scholar was conceived as the tool that should exist for these students — a single platform that brings clarity to a genuinely confusing process.
What We Built
We led the full product build from concept through to MVP. That began with a proper scoping phase — defining the user, the core problems, the features that would actually make a difference, and the ones that could wait. The application was built using React and Next.js for a fast, server-rendered frontend, with a backend database powering the apprenticeship listings aggregation. We integrated an AI-powered preparation tool that helps students think through their decision — asking guided questions, surfacing relevant considerations, and generating personalised summaries.
Outcome
Uni-Scholar launched as a functional MVP giving students a genuinely useful starting point for one of their biggest decisions. The platform demonstrates what thoughtful product design looks like in the EdTech space: built around the real needs of a real user, not around what's easiest to build.
